How far are you two from Arcata, CA? They seem to get the BEST shows - is it at Humboldt State University that they have a theatre? I wish I could see GAI, but all his dates in the US are west coast so far. SO jealous of the Avetts @ Red Rocks.

4/4 - Margo Price - Columbus, OH (maybe)
4/12 - Elephant Revival - Cleveland, OH (maybe)
4/21 - BCB - Birmingham, AL
4/24 - BCB - Nashville, TN
4/25 - BCB - Nashville, TN

I'm trying not to be depressed about this list since no one I follow has released anything summer yet... hoping that puts a pep in my step.

I am SO DISAPPOINTED that The Wailin' Jennys are coming to Cincinnati, OH (the closest they've played to me in years) during the great BCB Southern Story Extravaganza. I'll already be down in Nashville by the night that they're playing in OH. Meanwhile, they have a billion dates in New England as usual. ;) Maybe meet you in Nashville, Mark.

Yeah. I'm lucky that Lori McKenna lives in Massachusetts and Rose Cousin has made Boston her second home. I think my luck with The Wailin' Jennys is that Heather Masse grew up in Maine [that's why they seem to schedule their shows around Stone Mountain Arts Center] and has people living in my town.

BUT - Gillian Welch rarely tours up here!!! ](*,)

Hey Ashley, we are about 6 hours from Arcata. Which is weird...I think six hours from anywhere means that you should be in a different state, but that's California for ya!

It is interesting. I'm noticing that we either get the front leg of tours or the back leg, depending on if it is a large market artist or a smaller artist. I guess the good thing is that when artists come to the west coast, they tend to stay for a while, making it easy to get to multiple shows within a reasonable amount of time.

I'm starting to get really excited about the BCB show at the Ryman, for so many reasons, but it will be so great to see so many of our friends and share that experience!

Okay, six hours is still pretty far, but that's cool to note the differences in touring. I hope one day to follow a Gillian tour on the west coast, northern CA to Seattle, the next time they do such a run. :)

I only heard vague rumblings that you and Erica would be coming to Nashville... happy to hear it confirmed and looking forward to seeing you both for sure!

^^That's a great list, Nicole!

My updated calendar:
4/2 Margo Price – Cincinnati, OH
4/4 Margo Price – Columbus, OH
4/7 Brandy Clark - Cincinnati, OH
4/20 Little Hurricane - Columbus, OH
4/24 BCB @ Ryman
4/26 Penny & Sparrow – Columbus, OH (?)
5/12 NKOTB, Paula Abdul, Boyz II Men – Columbus, OH
6/16 Chris Stapleton, Brent Cobb, Anderson East - Cincinnati, OH
7/2 Jason Isbell, The Mountain Goats - Huber Heights, OH

Still debating on a show tonight. I really want to see Jared & The Mill in Cincinnati tonight, but I have some other things I need to do, so it's killing me to make a decision.

Yes, it will be a fun time...really looking forward finally seeing a show at the Ryman. I've been to Nashville countless times, but never made it to a show there. I think we are just as excited to see so many friends in one place again, too! Perhaps we can all meet up for drinks or grub (I'll defend your right to have broccoli on pizza) :)

Ha, THANK YOU... although Lisa and I did come to a truce and agreed to call it "vegetable bread" so as not to sully pizza's good name. :D

That is lucky... the good thing about New England though is that when people finally come up, you probably have the chance to see 2-4 shows in close proximity to one another. Having a local connection is lucky too... re: Gillian, Dave Rawlings is from Rhode Island so I'm surprised they don't get up there more. They do love them the south!

Finally... FINALLY... a venue in this crap hole some call a city books a decent Americana gig.

So without further ado, the one Cleveland date on my calendar in 2017:

5/25 - THE SECRET SISTERS

At least it's a damn good gig.

It would take a miracle, but I'm putting it out there:

5/2 - Emmylou Harris & the Nash Ramblers - "At the Ryman"

Emmylou is kicking off the Ryman's 125th anniversary with a reunion of one of my favorite live albums of all time. I would just kill to see this show, and may try to make it happen, depending on the ticket I get.

Here's a great article on the album, the Ryman, and the role that Emmylou played in inspiring the restoration of the space that was almost left to ruin. I cannot wait to sit in these sacred pews once again (for BCB of course)!!

I'm not. Decided this week on some time in New Orleans before Nashville, instead of an extra week in Nashville after the BCB shows. But I'm leaving it here because it's worthy of someone attending, and talking about, and Emmylou doesn't have her own thread!

Iron & Wine - Prescott Park, Portsmouth, NH - 06.28.17
GILLIAN WELCH - Prescott Park, Portsmouth, NH - 07.01.17
Michael Franti - Prescott Park, Portsmouth, NH - 07.26.17
MCC - Prescott Park, Portsmouth NH - 08.03.17
BCB - Capital Theatre, Port Chester, NY - 09.17.17

Not sure, but I'm still on the fence about seeing BCB at the FreshGrass Festival, in North Adams, in September.
