I am going to a sugar cane grinding and Thanksgiving Potluck outdoor event with my family in GA. We've done this on Thanksgiving as long as I can remember. It is not your traditional Thanksgiving scene, but it is mine.

Today is a great day because it's the 1st of December and I got my first chocolate out of my advent calendar and I'll get one every morning for the next 23 days! Definitely liking the sound of that!!!

A few days late....but....

On Saturday we photographed 42 families for free as a part of the Help Portrait event Jeremy Cowart (he took GUTG pics of Brandi and band) started three years ago. I have coordinated one of the Portland events the past three years. It's always a great time.

Congrats! You have a long road ahead but it will be worth it in the end. Just remember...the RNs have been doing this longer than you, so listen to them....trust me. Our least favorite residents are the cocky ones who think they know it all. We usually let them fall flat on their face to let 'em know they don't know it all. (I could tell you some stories of stuff our residents DIDN'T know...like female anatomy, and what we did to them so they wouldn't "f" things up!) (but don't listen to me...I'm just an uneducated ED Tech who's been doing this for a while. hee hee!)

Ha thanks for the advice. My girlfriend graduates with her BSN in May, and she likes to remind me of this often! I try to keep my feet on the ground

Ha! Good....just a funny story from my trauma days...we had a resident who was responsible for placing foley catheters in the trauma patients and for the life of him, didn't have a firm grasp of the female anatomy....so, one of our nurses took a Gray's Anatomy and copied the section on female genitalia and blew it up to 8X11 paper. Then she took a marker and put "NO" in red sharpie with arrows pointing to places that were NOT the urethra and then put a big bullseye on the urethra with a "YES!!" on it...it was taped to one of the cabinets in the trauma bay as a joke....funny thing....he actually used it as a reference!!!! It was literally painful to watch him fumble around. Thank God most of our trauma patients were usually out of it.

Sorry to non-medical people if that was TMI....just too good of a story not to share!
