Spain/Portugal ATers

Postby Renegade_Pilgrim » Wed Sep 19, 2012 8:10 am

Just tossing this out there...I think I did this the last time I traveled...

I'm heading to Lisbon, Porto, Santiago de Compostela and Madrid in October. If there are any ATers in those places I have not already reached out to who would like to meet up for a cafe con leche or some vino tinto while I am passing through your town, let me know! I'll be in Lisbon for three days, Porto for three days, and Madrid for one day. I'm going for a walk again, in case anyone was wondering, along the Camino de Santiago from Porto to Santiago de Compostela then onto the end of the earth at Finisterre. I'll be in Europe from October 5-30.

I wish I could visit Germany and Italy and the UK and Sweden on this trip to see more ATers but the budget won't allow. :)

Hope to meet some of you....I don't bite, promise! There are other ATers in Europe who can vouch for me.

That's so cool you're doing the Camino de Santiago, RP! I have several friends who have done it, and would LOVE to do it sometime. I've been thinking of a Europe trip to celebrate my graduation from my Master's program in May. I've never been to Europe and have several friends living there now, so I figure now would be as good a time as any, especially before I get tied down by a job. Have a great time--I'd love to see some pictures when you get back.

My blog posts from 2010, April/May, are all about my Camino walk and I will be blogging again...renegadepilgrim.com

Finishing grad school is a perfect excuse to go for a walk along the Way. Also be sure to check out caminodocumentary.org for a doc being produced here in Portland. It's pretty damn amazing!

Cris will explain better, but ginja is basically a liquor made with sour cherries and this mysterious thing called bagaço that apparently exists only in Portugal. I'll wait for your stories to see if her homemade ginja is really so deadly

Annie, your idea sounds perfect too! I'm planning the exact same thing, but in the opposite direction

That sounds delicious!!!! My Italian cousin sent me home to the US with a bottle of a homemade cherry liquer...and I love it! I can't wait to try it out.
