Amazon - Looking Out Foundation

Postby Implicatedone » Mon May 05, 2014 5:05 pm

I searched for this in topics and came up empty but if I missed something, please feel free to modify as needed.

You can now direct Amazon to donate a portion of your sales to a charity of your choice. I looked up the Looking Out Foundation as a selection option and it was there. There was some small print about contacting them to make sure the LOF is able to receive the donation, but hopefully it will work out. Maybe Holly or Bert can inquire.

In any event, I do a lot of shopping through the site and thought I would pass it on. You can choose by signing in via the link:

Cool. Will see if I can get confirmation from LOF that they do, in fact, receive this...

Confirmed that LOF is indeed registered with Amazon Smile...so, you Amazon shoppers, log into www.smile.amazon.com and choose "Looking Out Foundation"...

I signed up for this a few weeks ago too. But remember, once you pick LOF, you always have to make sure when you buy things that the URL starts with smile.amazon.com

If you go to just amazon.com (without the smile) I don't think LOF will get anything from your purchases. So make sure you change your bookmarks/favorites to include the smile in the URL.

Question from a recovering Luddite:
I went onto smile.amazon.com and signed up LOF as my charity and even got my confirmation, but when I went into my account, I didn't see any smile. Where do I look for the "smile"?

EDIT NOTE: Just figured it out. I hope all of you who order from [when you're not buying LOCAL] will order through http://www.smile.amazon.com!

An update on what LOF supporters have collected for LOF through smile.amazon.com as of last month: $571.18 !
Well done, everyone.

If you haven't already made LOF your charity of choice, make sure you do that and then make your Amazon purchases through smile.amazon.com in order for it to benefit. I've also learned that purchases through their apps do not qualify. So if I'm shopping on the app, I add things to my cart and then go to a browser on my computer/ipad to for the final purchase.

I know 0.5% isn't much, but it adds up over time. Thousands spent over 2.75 years finally has me up to almost $20

Good reminder! Using my parents amazon prime is too easy via iPhone app anywhere and everywhere I think of something to buy, I never think to go to the actual website to finalize my purchases!
