Hey all,
So there was some trouble with the forum overnight when the host servers were upgraded. I worked with my host and they were able to restore the database and find the lost posts. Unfortunately when they restored it this afternoon all new posts were lost.

Since there were more significant posts lost in the overnight period I would rather have them back then worry about the loss of new the new ones.

We will continue from here!

Bert

Hey just wanted to let you know it's not letting me get into the "BC in the news" forum. It says I do not have the required permissions. I assume it's just because everything's being moved around and organized still. Thanks!:-)

Try logging out and back in. Bert did some updates to the forum and we have been moving stuff around.

Anyone else having trouble?

Are you using Tapatalk to access the forum?

Since a couple days, when I enter AT and I'm logged out, the forum appears to me with the standard blue phpbb template. As soon as I log in it's back in its beautiful brown dress. Is it happening to anyone else?

That's happening because I am making changes to the forum theme. It will go away once I am done.

Oh, ok! Not that that's a problem anyway, just noticed that and was wondering if it was just my browser being weird. And btw thanks for anything you're doing with theme and forum :D

Bert or Holly -

Is there a way to follow a topic even if you don't post a reply? Meaning, can I get email notifications for a specific topic without having to put my two cents in about whatever is being discussed? I've tried to look through the forum options but am somewhat technically challenged and can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Just wondering - thanks.

I'm not Bert or Holly, but...
Just click the little link with the checkbox toward the bottom of the page in the topic that says "Subscribe topic". You can uncheck it if you want to unsubscribe, or manage your subscriptions in the User Control Panel.

is anyone else seeing ads pop up in our posts? The "amazing spiderman" in the movie thread is highlighted, and when I mouse over, there's an ad. It did that on someone else's post that included "iphone". Is this just my browser's fault? I feel like I've been spotting ads in weird places lately... :?

Not happening to me on iPad (using Safari browser) or on Tapatalk.

Might be your browser.

It's most likely your browser especially if you are using Google Chrome. I've had that happen from time to time and it's usually because I added a plug-in. If you are using Google Chrome, download the plug-in called Ad Block for Chrome.

Yep, my dad downloaded a darn plug-in to watch a football game last night on a sketchy website, and doesn't even know what it was... #-o Thanks for the tips, I'll search for that plug-in (grr!) and maybe an add-on to block it.

Edit: I had been using firefox, but I'm probably going to switch to chrome. I can't get to the root of this, and there are too many ads, and chrome probably works better anyway. (WHY would you download something like that from an unknown website...?!) Anyway, thanks again!

Not sure if this is the right forum. It's not a Technical Difficulty, but how can I get my password [since I've forgotten what I had put down]?

As an Admin I can't see what your password is so if you have forgotten, you will need to reset it. You can do that by logging off and at the login screen there is an option to reset forgotten password.

Thanks for your help. I did what you suggested...and, funny thing, when I reset my password, it turned out that the "new" password was the "forgotten" one. Weird.

But I do have another question: how do I take a quote from one topic and put it into another topic? Thanks.

Find the post you want quote. Hit the "Quote" button at the top of the post. Copy all of the text in the reply field that opens. You can then Paste it into a reply in another thread. Hope that helps.
