Technical Difficulties with the site/forum?

Postby hollyinpa » Sat Aug 18, 2007 2:21 pm

Anyone having trouble getting onto the forum? When I go to sign in and hit " submit" I get a weird page....but then when I type www.againtoday.com/forum again it takes me to the forum and I am signed on. Bert's working on it now....

Shoot me an email at hollyzipperer(at)comcast.net if you are having trouble too...

For those of you who can view this.....

I'm having issues with the registration of my domain name www.againtoday.com. My host is working on fixing the problem and it should be resolved in the next day or so. You may be redirected to a page that makes it appear as if my domain has expired. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok - for those of us who get email notifications of posts to watched threads, if you follow the link in those emails they won't work. You have to go to www.againtoday.com/forum to get the messages. Any link that directs you using http://againtoday.com and NOT http://www.againtoday.com will not work for now. Bert's hopin' it will be back to normal within 24 hours.

So - to access the forum you have to go to it using a link with www.againtoday.com in it for it to work.

For me, it won't keep me logged in. I have to log in every time and then it boots me to the weird expired domain page but when I go back using www.againtoday.com/forum I am logged in.

ugh...at least we can still get to the forum. Bert worried that we'd lost all of the forum info altogether.

Thanks for your patience.

Yeah, just realised that I won't stay logged in, but like you said...I also thought everything might have gone 'bye, bye' so I'm glad the Forum is back.

Sheesh, I wasn't much fond of the other page that I kept getting earlier where it said something about domain expired. All seems to be back to normal for me for now *fingers crossed*.

It looks like everything is working on the site/forum - however, any links that you try to follow that do not have www in them do NOT work. You can edit the link in your address window by putting www in the address or your best bet is to just go to the forum using the following address instead of following links embedded in email alerts, etc:

www.againtoday.com/forum

Sorry for the inconvenience, peeps.

i just lost about an hour of writing after my first b.c show

Postby islandsq » Thu Sep 13, 2007 8:12 am

Holly!

Help! Oh, it's so painful to me. this is the second time I've posted a LONG reply and finished, hit submit, and it takes me to the LOG in screen! Aaah! It is even worse this time because i'm exhausted after my first brandi concert and I gave it my all to respond to all the nice folk that have continued the thread i started. Where did it go? Is it lost in cyberspace forever? Is there a way to get it back? What did I do wrong? or was it a computer belch? Oh, please tell me it's somewhere admin. can access and post. PLEASE.

thank you,

islandsq

Lisa..I'm not sure what is happening. I'm unaware of the system timing out. I'll look into it more later. Unfortunately, there is no way to recover what is lost. I would suggest if you are going to type up something long...do it in Word first.

Actually I did find "Session Length" in the configuration of the forum. It was set for 1 hour. Meaning if you were idle for more than an hour it would automatically log you off. I've reset it for 2 hours. I don't know what it considers "idle", but perhaps that is the problem.

Lisa, did you check the little box on the log in page that says "automatically log me in at each visit"?

This same thing happened to me the other night, too. I posted a reply, hit 'submit' & it put me back to the login page....then wouldn't let me log back in....said "translating" :?:
Happened twice....& I wasn't idle at all....was zipping around from post to post.

Hasn't happened since, tho...

Thanks for responding Bertgos...I didn't realize I should be asking you rather than Hollyinpa. I see her name so often I just assumed.....my bad. Anyway, thanks for extending it to two hours limit on the timer. I guess I thought I was on for only one hour or less but apparently I went over. This is what happens when you're exhausted, excited and had a few stellas...it takes forever to get your point across! Oh, and about trying to put my long stuff in "Word" before writing it here...I honestly don't know what that means. As I mentioned in my first ever comment/reply/posting/thread here, this computer world is still pretty foreign to me. I'm probably in first grade as far as computer tech education. Once again, I'm pretty tired so I guess I will have to make peace with all that raw creativity that came sprouting from hands after my first ever brandi show which is now lost in another reality, and when I'm feeling refreshed, I'll try it again.
Thanks to Cookie who loves pitbulls for letting me know I'm not the only one who has experienced this annoying moment of watching words swirl down the drain after 62 minutes in an uncomfortable IKEA desk/computer chair. ( Yah, I know, the chair is all my fault...blame the chair!)

Also, No, I do not check the box that says 'automatically log me in' each time because not knowing to much about computers, I thought that limits your security by allowing the computer to put in your password and such. Am I wrong? If I have completely misunderstood, please let me know how that works.....I mean, if there is no good reason NOT to...I suppose I'll do that if it will stop me from losing a long reply.

Thanks again to all of you who responded to this and offered your help/suggestion/advice/opinion/comment.

Bertgos, I will definitely let you know
how the extension on the time works
out for me when I decide to sit in this
chair for more than an hour again.

peace and learning,
islandsq--

I usually upload my pics to Photobucket (www.photobucket.com) and then Photobucket gives you all kinds of code to cut-n-paste on your MySpace page or forums, etc.

If you have the pics saved on your computer it should be pretty easy using photobucket. At least that how I do it!

Anyone else have other ways to post pics in a post?

I don't know if there's an easier way, but I upload my picture to a site like

www.photobucket.com

And then photobucket will give you a series of codes, HTML, IMG, etc. Copy & paste the one that says IMG right into the reply box.

Anyone better at explaining than me?

Bert, I know there is a daily cap on how many email notifications the site can send out, but for the past week I have not been receiving any notifications, even when I get PM's. My settings are currently set to get them. Also, they have not been going to my junk mail or anything... I just don't get any notifications anymore. Don't you guys love me? Do I need to take a hint?

Hmmmm...not sure. There is an hourly cap on emails of 200 but that shouldn't prevent you from gettting most of them. I'll look into it.

Snowshoe and Shannon,
You two and a small number of others seem to be my main problem. I can't do anything about it right now but I will look into it further when I get home from work. For Shannon and the others it seems to be a Yahoo thing where I'm getting a message that say "temporarily deferred due to user complaints".

Snowshoe..I'm still not sure why yours didn't get through.

I'll report back later.

Thanks Bert! Perhaps I'll switch emails to be sent over to my gmail account instead, if that will help.
