As a direct result of the money raised by AgainToday.com and its members at the Raise the Roof: A Benefit for The Looking Out Foundation in September 2009, the following campaigns and causes were able to begin their efforts:

The If Project (http://www.theifproject.com/)

Read the story behind The If Project here(http://www.theifproject.com/why-if/).

Fight the Fear Campaign (http://fightthefearcampaign.com/)

Fight the Fear Campaign is a community oriented violence prevention initiative. Their mission is to provide free self defense training and violence prevention education, for women in underserved and at-risk populations. Fight the Fear Campaign is based on the belief that self defense training should be easily accessible to everyone, because the skills and confidence that it builds are a proven deterrent to violence.

Fight the Fear Campaign classes provide training in basic self defense skills, including awareness, de-escalation, boundary setting, and fighting techniques, and access to resources for survivors of violence or abuse. Their goal in 2010 is to provide 35 classes at Seattle-area women’s shelters, senior centers, community centers, homeless centers, and other gathering places.

Born of the aftermath of one woman’s tragic death and another’s courageous survival, this initiative is an effort to turn a senseless, violent act into a positive agent of growth and change.

Fighting fear, preventing violence, helping women live with strength and confidence.

AgainToday.com will continue to support these campaigns and we challenge you to provide support, as well. You may donate your time, energy, resources and money to these groups via the links above.

We are looking forward to hosting another benefit for The Looking Out Foundation in Fall 2010. Stay tuned for details!

Raise the Roof Benefit Raises over $20,000 for The Looking Out Foundation!

The Raise the Roof Benefit for Brandi Carlile's The Looking Out Foundation, sponsored by AgainToday.com, was a huge success!

A sold-out crowd at Seattle's Triple Door participated in a one-of-a-kind evening that included a "Q&A" with Brandi Carlile and her band, an Open Mic featuring some amazingly talented fans and a rockin' set by Brandi and the Boys. In addition to ticket sales, over $5,000 was raised in merch sales and raffle items. Raffle items included an autographed guitar, Wii Gaming System and an Ultimate Fan Package that included RT airfare, 2 tickets to any headlining Brandi Carlile show and the chance to sit in on sound check. One of the raffle items, an autographed pair of Chuck Taylors + $100 Converse gift card was donated back by its winner and will be auctioned off on Ebay with proceeds going to The Looking Out Foundation.

To watch Brandi Carlile's opening remarks and see other event highlights, visit our "audio/video" page. A slideshow of pictures from the event is on our homepage.

Perhaps the highlight of the evening was when Brandi invited all of the open-mic participants onstage to sing and play along to Folsom Prison Blues!

Thanks to Brandi Carlile, Tim and Phil Hanseroth and Josh Neumann for helping make this event a smashing success! Thanks to all of the fans who attended and contiributed their time and money to The Looking Out Foundation. We couldn't have done it without you!

Remaining merchandise from this event will be made available soon, while supplies last, with all proceeds going to The Looking Out Foundation. Stay tuned for more details!
